Random Acts of Art: Volkhardt Müller
6 March—1 May 2010

Volkhardt Müller is one of three artists in residence commissioned by Spacex for Random Acts of Art.

Born in Germany, Volkhardt Müller now lives in Exeter and has built up an extensive knowledge and understanding of the city. For Random Acts of Art he will be developing performances based on the distinct qualities, histories, architecture and population of different sites within the West Quarter of Exeter. He will then create a series of performed actions to be recorded on video.

Artist Information
Volkhardt Müller's recent projects include Swinedown Walk (2008) currently at Amy House, Newcastle as part of the Triparks exhibition. An 84metre strip of Dartmoor was laid across Plymouth City Centre for one day - cut to fit the urban site the work left the city’s imprint on the moor. A video of this was shown alongside the turf on the BBC’s big screen. Global Player, with the collective Blind Ditch, tours a specially designed table tennis table around UK cities, pitching it in carefully chosen sites. Involving members of the public in a game of table tennis, Global Player questions the community ownership of urban space through streetplay.
