Your Art Club Questions Answered:
Q. Does Art Club run every Saturday?
No.
Art Club runs 30 weeks of the year. There is no Art Club during summer,
Easter, and Christmas holidays or during the weeks when a new exhibition
is being installed in the gallery. Please ask for a list of Art Club
dates for the year.
Q. Does my child need to be good at art to attend Art Club?
No. Children of all abilities can attend. Enthusiasm is all that’s needed!
Q. Does my child need to attend Art Club every week?
No. You do not need to attend every week or pay in advance.
Q. Who runs Art Club?
Jenny
Mellings is an artist who set up Art Club in 1990 and has been leading
it ever since. Alongside her commitment to Art Club and Outer Space (our
club for older children) Jenny teaches at the University of Plymouth and
practices as an artist.
Q. How does Art Club differ from art classes at school?
There
is less emphasis on instructional teaching and more on enjoying the
experience and process of making artwork. We hope to provide a range of
creative activities which teachers find hard to incorporate into the
curriculum.
Q. Do you have a Child Protection Policy?
Yes,
Spacex takes child protection very seriously. Our Protection Policy is
available upon request. All Art Club staff have a current CRB check.
